Last fall, my friend Pat McFadden and I ginned up her home workshop to make wooden games to sell at Artclectic at University School of Nashville. Over the course of the year, Pat has ridden that creative momentum to make several pieces of beautiful outdoor furniture, including two custom garden benches and my beloved Chippendale garden gate, of which she was the lead designer.
As is often the case with exceptionally talented people, Pat gets bored easily, so don’t go asking her to make something from her past portfolio. Once she’s solved the intricate design and geometry challenges of a construction project, it falls into the category of been-there-done-that.
But if you act quickly, you can snag Perfectionist Pat’s latest one-of-a-kind woodcraft, a stunning bed swing with an adjustable back, perfect for upright seating or full-out napping on the porch.
Constructed of Southern yellow pine, the swing measures 86.5″ x 43″, fits a standard twin mattress up to 6″ deep, and can be hung with ropes or chains.
The unfinished swing is $1250, but you can talk to Pat about options including painting, staining, ropes, mattress, or cushion.
If you’re interested, you can message Pat McFadden on Facebook, or I can connect you. If you miss out on this rare offer, you can always ask Pat to create something else, but don’t ask her for a second bed swing. She’s been there, done that. And it is gorgeous.
