Popclectic Spotlight: Liz Hodder Studio

Welcome to the first in a series of profiles of artisans and makers participating in Popclectic artisan market, Saturday, October 21, during University School of Nashville’s Artclectic weekend.

Liz Hodder Studio: Ceramics, Sculpture and Textiles

“I love the natural world and feel connected to and part of something much greater,” says artist Liz Hodder. While this year marks Liz’s first time to present at Popclectic, the USN community already knows her design talent from the 2015 Middle School production of The Lion King, for which Liz created the exquisite lioness masks.

Growing up in Richmond, Va., Liz always created art. “Leonardo DaVinci was my rock star when I was a child,” she remembers. These days, as an artist and mother of two middle-schoolers, Liz finds inspiration in the writings of journalist Krista Tippet. “Reading her books and listening to On Being help inform and guide the foundation of my art and life,” Liz says. “I hope my art can support others to enjoy their life experience.”

At Popclectic, Liz will showcase handcrafted ceramics, sculpture and textiles. She is also available for commission work. To see how Liz translates images, textures and patterns from the natural world into her artwork, follow her beautiful Instagram feed at @LizHodderArt.
